By Lisa Iscrupe Last updated: March 29, 2023
AT&T Internet 1000 is one of AT&T’s fastest residential internet plans, reaching symmetrical download and upload speeds of 940 Mbps. For $80/mo., AT&T’s 1000 Mbps fiber internet plan is one of the best you can get for speed, price and reliability.
Allconnect ratings show AT&T as one of the best overall products out of all the providers. AT&T’s fiber plans earned a rating of 4.43 out of 5, based in part on its offering of 1000 Mbps internet at similar or lower prices than other providers.
AT&T Internet was also ranked #1 in customer satisfaction for Residential Internet Service in the North Central and South regions, according to J.D. Power.

What you can do with AT&T internet 1000
You may wonder if you need the AT&T 1000 plan at up to 940 Mbps in your home. The internet speed that will work best for you depends on how many devices are connected in your home and what activities you do on the internet. Although Gigabit speeds may be faster than what the average household needs, heavy gamers, online learners and folks who work from home will appreciate this fast, reliable connection option.
AT&T Internet 1000 is best for
- Multiple streaming devices, such as Roku or Apple TV
- Members of your household who work from home

Bundle and save

How does AT&T Fiber 1000 compare?
Before you make a decision, it can be helpful to compare providers. Depending on which high-speed internet provider you choose, you could end up spending more on your monthly price and install fees, but getting less value.
For example, Xfinity gigabit internet has an upload speed of up to 35 Mbps, compared to the AT&T 1000 upload speed of up to 940 Mbps. Uploading photos, videos and documents take longer with a slower upload speed.
Something to keep in mind as you compare providers is that AT&T’s fiber plans don’t have any equipment fees, annual contracts or price increases.
AT&T provides the gateway when you set up internet in your home. Common Wi-Fi gateway models include: BGW320, BGW210, Pace 5268, NVG599, and NVG589. If you cancel your internet service, you’ll have to return your Wi-Fi gateway to AT&T. There are options to purchase your own router if you’d prefer.
Equipment rental fees can run from $5 to $15 or more monthly from other providers. For comparison, Xfinity charges $14, Verizon $15 and Spectrum $5.
If you are a heavy internet user in a house full of other heavy users, a perk of the AT&T Fiber 1000 service is that there isn’t a data cap on any of AT&T’s fiber plans.

AT&T internet 1000 vs. other AT&T plans
AT&T’s other fiber internet plans include AT&T Internet 300 and AT&T Internet 500, which offer up to 300 Mbps and 500 Mbps respectively, but they may not be able to power an entire house of online users, so consider your family’s needs and internet use before picking a less expensive – and slower – plan.
In some areas, you can also get AT&T’s 2 and 5 Hyper-Gig plans, with speeds up to 4,700 Mbps. Not all of us will need that kind of speed, but it is something to consider, especially if you have a large home with a growing or extended family.
AT&T plan name | Starting price* | Download speed | Upload speed |
---|---|---|---|
AT&T 5 Gig Internet | $180/mo. | 4,700 Mbps | 4,700 Mbps |
