Other than a price hike after the first 12 months, Spectrum’s Gig Internet offers:

• Spectrum charges $5/mo. for router rental, but the modem is free. You can also purchase your own Spectrum-compatible modem and router.

• Spectrum Gig provides free unlimited access to nationwide out-of-home WiFi
• Spectrum Gig comes with free antivirus software
• If you’d like to switch your internet, home phone or cable TV to Spectrum but are in a contract with another provider, Spectrum will buy out your existing contract for up to $500.
• Spectrum does not have early termination fees, contracts or data caps

The bottom line

One gig plans can be more internet than most users need, but if you have a home powered by multiple smart devices, as well as a houseful of power internet users, Spectrum’s Gig Internet plan is worth the $89/mo.

With up to 35 Mbps in upload speed (wireless speeds may vary) the plan can handle several users gaming and working from home simultaneously. 

If the providers are available at your address, a 1 Gig plan from Frontier or Verizon may be a better bet if you need higher upload speeds, as they provide 880 Mbps in upload speeds. Frontier is $10/mo. cheaper and Verizon is the same price as Spectrum.
