Quantum Fiber and CenturyLink are separate brands owned by Lumen. In the future, CenturyLink will offer only DSL services, and Quantum will offer fiber internet plans.

CenturyLink still exists and will retain its DSL plans, but eventually, its fiber internet service will operate as Quantum Fiber and serves residential and business customers.

Quantum Fiber is a prepaid service with no data caps or contracts. It offers two plans (200 Mbps and 940 Mbps) with symmetrical upload and download speeds.

Plans and prices

Quantum Fiber currently has two plans available. Its 200 Mbps plan is ideal for smaller households but can still handle its fair share of streaming or learning from home.

Its fastest plan offers speeds up to 940 Mbps and is great for larger households with multiple devices streaming, gaming and working from home all at once.

Quantum offers a Price for Life (see Offer Details below) that keeps your internet plan price the same as long as you keep your same Price for Life plan, and don’t make changes, move or disconnect service. Note that charges for your 360 WiFi and other equipment lease charges, taxes and fees are not covered under the Price for Life and will change over time.

Equipment and fees

Professional installation is included with your purchase of a Quantum Fiber plan if you’re located in its availability footprint. If your location doesn’t have fiber cables installed yet, construction charges may apply, but don’t worry — Quantum Fiber will cover up to $1,500 of these charges and it’s unlikely to cost more than that.

You can rent a modem/router combo from Quantum Fiber for an additional $15.00/mo. with the 200 Mbps plan, though it may be cheaper to purchase. A gateway device is included with the 940 Mbps plan.

Quantum Fiber has a different availability footprint than CenturyLink. It is currently available in 14 states:

Quantum Fiber vs. the competition

Compared to other fiber-optic plans like Xfinity Gigabit Pro, Quantum Fiber is definitely more affordable. On the downside, it only has one plan that competes with other ISPs’ fiber plans.

Providers like Frontier and Xfinity offer gigabit and multi-gigabit plans that, while pricey, offers customers more options than Quantum Fiber. Nevertheless, Quantum Fiber has competitive pricing and its gig plan offers more than enough speed for most households.

Our final thoughts

Quantum Fiber has affordable fiber plans with great speeds and no contracts or data caps. While other providers offer more speed variety, Quantum Fiber’s fastest plan has more than enough speed to satisfy a large household with multiple streamers and gamers.

Although its availability is somewhat limited, it’s still a great choice if you are located in its service area.
