Each provider’s plans have minor differences — Verizon’s plans start at $35/mo., compared to T-Mobile’s $50/mo., and Verizon has two plans compared to T-Mobile’s singular plan. However, both providers offer no data caps.

Overall, Verizon may edge out T-Mobile on this one, but considering both providers offer deals for mobile customers, your best bet might be the company you’re already a customer with.

Between Verizon and T-Mobile, you have three 5G home internet plans to choose from, all of which can be very affordable, especially if you already have phone service through the provider.

Verizon 5G Home Internet offers two plans: Verizon Home and Verizon Home Plus. Starting at $35/mo. (for qualifying mobile customers who use autopay), you can get Verizon’s base 5G home internet plan. For $10 more per month, you can get the upgraded plan, again if you have a qualifying mobile account and use autopay. (Without a mobile plan, the price is $50 – $60/mo. for Verizon Home and $70 – $80/mo. for Verizon Home Plus.)

Similarly, T-Mobile offers a deal for mobile customers. While the provider only has one 5G internet plan, you can get a discounted price if you have two lines on T-Mobile’s Magenta Max. The starting price is $55/mo. with $5/mo. off for autopay, making your monthly price $50 for internet.

Verizon and T-Mobile have a wide range of download and upload speeds, with Verizon Home Plus offering the fastest option. In fact, even Verizon’s Home plan generally outranks T-Mobile’s plan, as it can get up to 300 Mbps and T-Mobile maxes out at 245 Mbps. As for upload speeds, Verizon Home Plus beats everyone with 50 Mbps. Neither provider has any data caps or contracts, though, making that a win across the board.

Another factor to consider is the price guarantee. With Verizon Home, you have a two-year price guarantee, which means your price won’t change for at least two years. With Verizon Home Plus, you get three years. T-Mobile, on the other hand, locks you into your price when you start your service.

  When looking at best overall value, Verizon Home Plus gives you the most for your money. For as low as $45/mo., you’re getting up to 1,000 Mbps download speeds and 50 Mbps upload speeds.

• Most affordable: Verizon Home and T-Mobile 5G

  If you have access to all the discounts (qualifying mobile plan and autopay), Verizon Home is the lowest cost at $35/mo. However, if you’re going into 5G with no mobile plan and no autopay, T-Mobile’s 5G plan is actually your best bet at $50/mo.

• Fastest speeds: Verizon Home Plus

  Verizon’s upgraded plan, Verizon Home Plus, offers up to 1,000 Mbps download speeds and 50 Mbps upload speeds.

• Equipment

  Verizon: With 5G home internet, Verizon includes a Wi-Fi 6 router at no extra charge. With either the 5G Home or 5G Home Plus plans, the gateway router is included, as well as 30 days of tech support.

  T-Mobile: With T-Mobile 5G home internet, you also get a Wi-Fi 6 gateway router included. It’s compatible with the brand’s nationwide 4G LTE and 5G networks.

  Verizon: Verizon’s 5G home internet does not include any contracts.

You can get the best deal on T-Mobile 5G Home Internet when you bundle it with a mobile plan. This can not only save you money, but it simplifies your monthly bill since you are getting both internet and mobile from the same provider.

5G Home Internet availability

T-Mobile is available in just over 600 metro areas in the U.S. right now, compared to Verizon’s 900 or so cities. T-Mobile specifically can be found in many rural areas of the country. In early 2021, T-Mobile announced that its coverage reaches 30 million homes, 10 million of which are rural. T-Mobile states on its website that it’s “aggressively” looking to continue expanding its reach.

Verizon can be found pretty readily across the country and is also continuing to expand (though Verizon also has a lot of resources invested in expanding its Fios service).

According to the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI), T-Mobile 5G Home Internet and Verizon 5G Home Internet rank in the top two for customer satisfaction among non-fiber internet providers.

T-Mobile ranks first, earning a 68/100 in 2024 and a 66/100 in 2023. Verizon takes second place with a 74/100 for 2024 but doesn’t have a score for 2023.

Though T-Mobile is a solid option for 5G internet, Verizon has a lot to offer in terms of price, availability and speed. Across the board, Verizon outranks T-Mobile in our scoring system, and it’s an especially attractive option if you’re already a Verizon Wireless customer.
