Nextlink overview

Nextlink internet has some good perks to its service, as Nextlink states on its website: no data caps or limits and few outages. Nextlink customer service is easy to reach and you can access Nextlink speed test support through the main site.

Things to consider

  • The highest standard fixed wireless plan only has 100 Mbps for speed and costs $90/mo., so if it’s available, go for the enhanced wireless or fiber plans.

  • Upload speeds on the plans tend to be much slower than download speeds, like a 15/3 Mbps upload to download ratio

  • Month-to-month options are more expensive than the two-year agreement options

Nextlink plans and pricing

Depending on your location within the states Nextlink serves, you can get fixed wireless, enhanced fixed wireless with faster speeds or fiber connections. Nextlink’s fixed wireless plans have speeds from 25 – 100 Mbps, while the enhanced fixed wireless plans have speeds from 50 – 500 Mbps. Nextlink’s fiber speeds offer the fastest speeds up to 1,000 Mbps.

Nextlink availability

Nextlink is based in Texas and serves areas in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Minnesota, Nebraska, Indiana, Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin and Wyoming. Nextlink is the sixth-largest fixed wireless provider in the U.S. Nextlink covers cities like Arlington, TX, Fort Worth, TX and Waco, TX. 

Nextlink’s finer service has less availability across Texas and Nebraska.

Nextlink contracts, equipment and fees

Most internet service providers have some kind of extra fees on top of the base pricing. Below we’ll explore what the contract and fees entail for Nextlink. 

Nextlink contracts

Nextlink is a convenient choice if you want month-to-month options. The starting plan NEXT10 is only month-to-month and all the other plans allow you to select a month-to-month option or a locked-in two-year agreement. Nextlink equipment

Nextlink has a whole home-managed Wi-Fi solution that comes with Nextlink’s router and an included APS battery, which has a $8.99/mo.* fee. Nextlink fees

Nextlink broadband also has additional fees. Plans under 35 Mbps have the option of getting longer-range equipment for an additional $10. There is a $99 installation fee for two-year agreements and a $250 installation fee for month-to-month plans. Additional equipment and fees may be required if you need to gain a more direct line of sight to a Nextlink tower, for instance, an additional $5/mo. for a tripod. Some situations like using security cameras or hosting online gamers might require a Static IP with fees of $10-20/mo. Equipment replacement fees can run up to $150. Nextlink cable and bundling

Nextlink does not list TV and internet bundling. But the service does have a partnership with DISH TV, where it lists DISH TV on its website and they have you contact DISH TV directly.
