Sonic equipment

The equipment needed for your Sonic internet service depends on the plan you’re on. You can bring your own or rent one from Sonic. People on the Fiber plan are provided an optical network terminal at no charge. This terminal functions as an ATA and router/firewall with a Wi-Fi access point.

Customers who use their own equipment may not have access to all of Sonic’s features. Additionally, Sonic does not provide customer support for equipment it does not supply.

Customers connected via Ethernet on devices from 2010 or newer will realize the fastest speeds — 800 Mbps and up. Due to the multiple factors affecting Wi-Fi connections, customers may only receive speeds up to 500 Mbps.

No, you can provide your own equipment. However, Sonic does not provide support for any third-party devices.
