If you’re moving, you don’t necessarily have to cancel your HughesNet internet service. You can instead transfer your plan to your new home. Pausing HughesNet service

HughesNet allows customers to temporarily suspend their service for part of the year (often known as a seasonal hold). This is ideal for individuals who travel for extended periods of time. To suspend your account, simply call customer care at (866) 347-3292. There’s no internet charge while your service is suspended, but you are required to continue paying lease fees for your equipment.

If service transfer or service suspension isn’t right for you, then you might simply want to cancel your HughesNet internet service altogether. HughesNet makes it easy to cancel your service over the phone.

Are you eligible to cancel your HughesNet service?

You can cancel your HughesNet service at any time. But in some cases, you might be subject to early termination fees (ETF). If you can cancel your plan after activation, but before the end of your contract, you’ll have to pay a $400 ETF. After 90 days, the fee decreases by $15/mo. until the end of your contract.

How to return your HughesNet equipment

To avoid an unreturned equipment fee, you must return your equipment when you cancel your HughesNet service. When you cancel your plan, you’ll receive a return kit, which includes a box, strip of tape, prepaid UPS return label and a UPS packing slip. Follow the instructions in your return kit to properly pack the equipment. Then take the box to any staffed UPS location or give it to a UPS driver.
