What do Hughesnet customers think?
Hughesnet is a satellite internet service provider. Hughesnet scored low across the board regarding price, speed, reliability and customer service – but it’s important to note that satellite providers will provide less speed than fiber and cable providers and usually have high prices. Satellite internet providers like Hughesnet are often the only internet option for those living in rural areas with limited internet access. Hughesnet customers scored the ISP the highest in customer service, followed by reliability.

Streaming is good as long as there is no traffic. Stream anything quickly and reliably in the middle of a work day. After dinner time or on weekends, even with a clear sky, it is almost impossible to watch anything on a streaming service. This has more to do with the number of customers. I will not renew my contract. I’d rather go without internet than this experience.

Hughesnet got our satellite Internet installed within a week of calling to schedule it. The technician was professional, and communicated effectively to let us know his schedule and didn’t keep us waiting around. He was also able to mount the satellite on a pole vs on the roof for an extra fee, as we requested not to have it roof mounted. The internet and Wi-Fi both work well so far.

Loses connection constantly. “Unlimited” internet is very limited, as it uses the “Priority Data” quickly. Then speed drops to that of dial-up from the 90’s…

HughesNet has been around for a long time. And we first had experience with them 12-14 years ago. Now at that time, you could make one call to HughesNet and they would install both WiFi and a TV service such as DirecTV; many companies did the same. But I guess someone broke up that “bundling” (probably the FCC), and now you need to make 2 calls in most areas: one to HughesNet and one to a TV service (DirecTV, Dish, etc). But still the quality of HughesNet is still there and much better with their new satellite. Yes, you can get Xfinity home WiFi and TV service cheaper, but believe me… Xfinity’s customer service is non-existent. And their goal is to sell you as much services as they can, and then they disappear. And heaven forbid if, like us got tired of their “run-around” and deceptive practices and cancelled them. They are will threaten you and make you jump through hoops to cancel and unsubscribe. Read the reviews on Comcast, who owns Xfinity from as far back as 2014. The complaints then were the same as today: They’ve gotten too big and think they have a monopoly on everything, and don’t care about customer service and support. Nope, I’m staying with HughesNet and we’re going to add DirecTV in a couple of weeks. (Don’t get me started on Dish TV).

My internet is unreliable during bad weather. I have to reset the modem often. Customer service is fine, installer was professional.

Extremely expensive and the data is gone within days, even when no one is at home!

If I didn’t consistently have connection issues every day between 10am & 4pm, the service would be great.

As with most satellites, the internet is down in bad weather. However, it is very slow and unreliable on good weather days as well. Customer service online had me waiting on the que for about 15 minutes. When the got to me they gave me one minute to respond and closed the request. My issue was never resolved.
