Canceling your Sparklight service

Depending on your particular circumstances, you may be able to cancel your subscription over the phone, online or in person. We’ll discuss each of these options below, along with detailed instructions on how to cancel Sparklight service. (Note: These instructions apply no matter what type of Sparklight subscription you have – whether it’s internet, TV or home phone services.)

Are you eligible to cancel your Sparklight service?

As a Sparklight/Cable One customer, you’re probably aware that the company doesn’t require contracts – which is a huge advantage when it’s time to cancel your service. There aren’t any fees for terminating your account, but you might have to cover some costs if you’ve leased equipment from Sparklight. We’ll explain those fees in more detail below.

Canceling your Sparklight service online

Through the Sparklight website, you can access a virtual chat tool to get in touch with a customer support representative and discuss your cancelation options. However, we found that these reps typically direct you to the customer service phone number or an office location, so we don’t recommend that you try to cancel Sparklight service online. 

Canceling your Sparklight service over the phone

If you own your equipment and don’t need to return anything to Sparklight, you can cancel your subscription over the phone. Here’s what to do:

• Have your Sparklight account number and service address ready
• Call Sparklight Billing at (877) 692-2253, Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. MST
• Inform the customer support agent that you would like to have Sparklight cancel service

Canceling our Sparklight service in person

If you’ve rented any equipment (such as a cable modem, DVR or TV receiver), you’ll need to cancel in person. Here’s how it works: 

• Find your nearest Sparklight office location
• Bring all of your leased equipment to the location during its operational hours
• Sparklight will accept your equipment and cancel your service during your visit

In certain situations, you might be able to have a Sparklight technician come to your home and collect your equipment. If so, you’ll need to pay a $45 convenience fee.

Pausing Sparklight service

In some cases, it’s better to put a temporary hold on your account rather than canceling it altogether. Many companies (including Sparklight) give you the option of pausing your service while you’re out of town or won’t be using your service. Learn more about putting a seasonal hold on your account.

How to return your Sparklight equipment

As we’ve mentioned in the previous section, you’re required to return any leased equipment to your nearest Sparklight location. Alternatively, you might be eligible to have a technician pick the equipment up (for a fee). Once you’ve done that, the company will arrange your service disconnection. Overall, it’s a pretty simple experience since you don’t have to package and ship it yourself.
