Where does one start. I’ve been with Metronet for 6 months. Other than the first week or so, I have not come even close to the speeds I’m paying for. At least with Spectrum, I was getting my speeds and more. Had a tech come out to see why I wasn’t getting the speeds I was paying for. The best he had was check the Metronet app. It tells you you are getting your speeds. FYI, that means nothing considering it’s a controllable program. It can’t be tested beyond the app. Yet my PC less than 10 feet away barely achieved half of what I am paying for. This is for wired and wireless. His response was look, you got 500 that is good; however, still half of my 1000 and this is a top of the line build PC with 2.4 GB interfaces with Wi-Fi 6. 1000 Mb is easily achievable on my PC. Also, any extra benefits you were to receive for signing up and such, forget about it. The “you will receive your extras in about 8 weeks”, that is them hoping you forget and it never comes back up so they can pocket your money. I contacted customer service once and the clown I got was on vacation. Vacation! They don’t even have customer reps working? What, they are saving money by not hiring many. The one I got said she would get to my problem when she returned to work. I did get a rep several days later in email only because I wrote a customer service review they didn’t like and three weeks later still not solved. Switching was a hassle and I lost shows I liked for increased bandwidth. Well I lost there. My opinion, threating your provider with switching and watch them give you a lot to not switch. Spectrum has and I’m considering switching back.

Installation took longer than expected due to previous owners not cancelling their plan, so no fault on Metronet. Installation guy was super super nice though, and very thorough. Had to call customer service after the second bill as our promotional rate wasn’t applied (first month was free so that’s why rate wasn’t noticed), customer service took care of it right away and applied a credit to our account.

I went with MetroNet since it was the 1st fiber service in my area, and they offered a “deal” because they tore up my yard installing the fiber. They run fiber right to their “box” at your use point, and were timely. The charges were more than I was (verbally) told, but not too bad. They had multi-day outages for which no cost reduction was applied, and no communication that an outage was occuring, or when to realistically expect service back. Their telephone tech service were average when troubleshooting (but I have worked as a back-up IT guy). When I told them I was moving (out of their service area), they instructed me how to return their hardware (a couple of pieces), I was on it and delivered them to UPS for return, and verified that I didn’t owe anything (although they still hadn’t credited me for days of outage). They sent an e-mail acknowledging my disconnect and hardware return. Then, I got e-mails and paper mails for months from them, saying that I owed, then that I was late in payment, and that I owed for hardware not returned. After a month, I called and was told that they had indeed received their hardware, and I owed nothing more, that their internal systems just hadn’t synced. Well, starting a couple weeks later, I continued to get e-mails demanding payment. I ignored ’em. Two months later, I got a formal letter in the mail telling me that I was very late, that they were turning my bill over to a collection agency, that it would impact my credit rating, and I would be billed for daily late fees for the equipment I hadn’t returned! Of course, I called back. I don’t trust ’em. Find another way!

Metronet has not disappointed! Installation was a breeze. Only complaint is the electrical situation that they set up. Internet is working great though.
