Google Fiber provider overview
Google Fiber delivers speeds up to 8,000 Mbps in select cities, with no contracts or hidden fees.
With Google Fiber, slow internet isn’t even an option. Choose from three high-speed internet plans: 1, 3, or 8 Gbps. The symmetrical upload and download speeds of a Google Fiber connection are perfect for serious gamers, streamers and managing smart homes of any size. Google also gets plenty of love from its customers, with consistently high ratings and positive reviews, thanks to transparent, consistent pricing and no added costs for equipment or installation.
-
Reliably fast speeds – Google Fiber internet plans have symmetrical speeds, meaning if you sign up for 1,000 Mbps download speed, you’ll get the same in upload speed
-
Affordable prices – At $70 to $150/mo., Google Fiber’s plans are competitively priced
-
Freedom to roam the internet – Google Fiber doesn’t have contracts or data caps
-
Limited availability – Google Fiber is only available in parts of 19 states
-
Limited options – The Core plan is available to more cities, but even the lowest-tier speed could be too much for a small household. The two higher speed plans are less available and might be best for a small business
-
Might be faster than necessary – While not exactly a drawback, Google Fiber could offer more speed than necessary for light internet users, who may be better served by a simpler, more affordable plan

How we scored internet providers
We evaluate broadband providers in four categories: affordability, performance, value and customer satisfaction. Each category contains multiple sub-factors, all of which are weighted differently to impact the provider’s overall score.
For each sub-factor, we score all providers on a continuous scale of 1 to 5, relative to the industry as a whole. Because the average download speed in America is currently 180 Mbps, for example, we assigned all plans with download speeds between 100 and 299 Mbps a score between 3 and 4. Xfinity’s 200 Mbps plan received a 3.50 score for download speed, while Spectrum’s 500 Mbps plan got a 3.71.
We only considered standardized data points in our scoring system. More abstract data like consistency of service and brand reputation is still part of our analysis, but we opted to let our writers address them in the context of each review.
Google Fiber plans and pricing
Google internet plans have three fiber internet options, with Core being serviceable for most people in the coverage areas. Google Fiber Core offers upload and download speeds of 1,000 Mbps for $70/mo.
Google Fiber Home and Edge are only available to select areas in certain cities as of mid-2025. The previously advertised 2,000 and 5,000 Mbps plans, though no longer publicly listed, may still available to certain addresses.
Filter your results:
Plans | Price | Download speeds | Upload speeds | Best for |
---|---|---|---|---|
Core | $70.00/mo. | 1,000 Mbps | 1,000 Mbps | Best for standard-sized homes with moderate to high online activity |
Home | $100.00/mo. | 3,000 Mbps* | 3,000 Mbps | Best for tech-savvy households and high-performance gaming |
Edge | $150.00/mo. | 8,000 Mbps* | 8,000 Mbps | Best for ultra-connected homes that demand nonstop speed |
*3 and 8 Gig plans are not available in all locations. As of 08/13/25.
What is Webpass, and is it the same thing as Google Fiber?
GFiber Webpass is Google Fiber’s hybrid fiber-fixed wireless service that residents of major cities like Chicago, Seattle and Denver may able to access in apartments, condominiums or businesses. It provides gigabit internet service to the building, and subscribers can pay monthly or yearly for access to the service, which is delivered wirelessly to the end user.
Google Fiber availability
Google Fiber is available in a limited number of major metropolitan areas. In 2025, Google Fiber is coming to a handful of new cities in Arizona, Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nevada, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.

Google Fiber deals and promotions
Deals
When you sign up for the 1, 3 or 8 gig plans, you get the GFiber Wi-Fi 6E router for free, including up to two mesh extenders that can cover up to 5,000 sq. ft.
Promotions
Google Fiber generally doesn’t run promotions since the internet plan and free equipment are already good deals.
Google Fiber contracts, equipment and fees
Google Fiber requires some equipment to operate, but there is no installation fee or contracts.
Google Fiber installation
Google Fiber provides free installation.
Installation of your new Google Fiber internet service is a two-step process:
- Google Fiber installers will put a small box on the side of your home called a Network Interface Unit
- A few days later, a technician will install a Google Fiber Jack inside your home and complete your setup
Google Fiber internet with live TV service
Google gives you the option to choose your preferred streaming experience through YouTube TV, fuboTV, Philo or Sling TV. Ranging from $40 to $84.99/mo., these four popular streaming live television services offer a wide variety of channels, including local cable networks.
Depending on which plan you select, bundling Google Fiber 1000 and a streaming TV plan could cost between $110 and $154.99/mo., making this a more economical option compared to adding a separate cable or satellite TV package.
Compare Google Fiber to other providers
Allconnect’s broadband experts rate Google Fiber highly for value, performance and customer satisfaction, as it generally offers faster speeds at more affordable prices than competitors.
Few providers can match Google Fiber’s premium speeds and features like unlimited data, no contracts and no fees. Most internet plans at the same price point offer slower speeds, while those with comparable speeds, like Xfinity or AT&T, cost twice as much. Similarly-priced providers, like Cox or Spectrum, have drawbacks like data caps or speed limitations, while the only real drawback to Google Fiber is its availability.
Filter your results:
Providers | Starting price | Download speeds | Upload speeds | Install/equipment fees |
---|---|---|---|---|
Google Fiber | $70.00/mo. | 1,000 – 8,000 Mbps | 1,000 – 8,000 Mbps | No |

Spectrum | $50.00/mo.* | 500 – 1,000 Mbps | 10 – 35 Mbps | Yes |
