How much is Hulu a month? Well, Hulu’s plans vary hugely in price, but that’s because they offer completely different content and features. The cheapest costs $5.99/mo. and is one of the least expensive on-demand streaming services around. But it only gives you access to Hulu’s on-demand library of more than 2,500 titles. Next up is Hulu’s premium No Ads plan. This removes ads from on-demand content and costs $11.99/mo.
If you want to combine over 65 live TV networks and Hulu’s on-demand catalog, Hulu + Live TV costs $54.99/mo. You can also pay $60.99/mo. to strip commercials from the live TV package’s on-demand titles.
Note that doesn’t mean no ads throughout the entire service. You’ll still have to watch commercials when viewing live TV. But on-demand shows and movies won’t feature Hulu ads if you pay for this upgrade. Some titles, however, still come with commercials due to licensing restrictions. Right now, these are Grey’s Anatomy, How to Get Away with Murder and Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. No Ads customers can also download up to 25 titles at a time for offline viewing. Each episode or movie will remain in your Hulu library for 30 days, but you’ll only have 48 hours to watch it once you start.
Every Hulu TV package comes with two simultaneous streams and six user profiles, so you and your household can enjoy a personalized experience. And Hulu + Live TV subscribers get 50 hours of DVR recording storage.
What content does Hulu include in its packages?
For a content-heavy service that includes live TV, you’ll have to shell out for Hulu’s Live TV package. More than 65 networks are there for you to watch, including national news from ABC, CBS, CNN, FOX and NBC along with local coverage in some areas. Entertainment lovers have plenty to watch too, whether they like documentaries from Animal Planet, Discovery and History, or reality TV from the likes of Bravo and TLC.
Mega sports fans can get their fill with around 20 dedicated channels. In fact, Hulu nabbed the top spot when we reviewed the best streaming services for sports. Catch national games via ESPN, FS1 and more, as well as all the college sports you could want. Regional events are also available in most areas via FOX Sports and NBC Sports. There’s even TV for kids. Boomerang, Cartoon Network and Disney Channel all feature in Hulu’s channel line-up.
Hulu’s live TV plan also lets you browse the service’s on-demand library. Or you can pay to access this catalog alone. More than 2,500 titles are there for you to watch. When it comes to movies, choose between recent blockbusters like Rocketman, Parasite and Once Upon A Time… In Hollywood and classic hits such as Dirty Dancing, Boyz n the Hood and Footloose.
For TV shows, head straight to Hulu’s originals. They range from the award-winning The Handmaid’s Tale to the series that everyone can’t stop talking about, Normal People. Hulu also has entire seasons of shows like The Bachelor, Killing Eve and Brooklyn Nine-Nine for you to work your way through. You can even catch up on new episodes from channels like ABC and NBC the day after they air.
What are the add-on packages with Hulu?
Sometimes, a streaming service’s base package just isn’t enough. That’s why plenty of platforms allow users to customize their subscriptions with a range of add-ons. Hulu’s list includes both extra channels and feature upgrades like enhanced cloud DVR.
Here’s every add-on you can choose for your Hulu plan.
Watch Cinemax content like Strike Back and Banshee live and on-demand along with popular movies such as Crazy Rich Asians and The Meg. This add-on will cost you an extra $9.99/mo. on top of your usual monthly Hulu fee.
Hulu now gives subscribers access to HBO Max. For $14.99/mo., you can catch HBO shows like Game of Thrones and Westworld, both live and on-demand. You can also watch HBO Max Originals and boxsets of hits like Friends through the HBO Max app.
Whether you’re a fan of Billions or Homeland, you can catch all of SHOWTIME’s binge-worthy series via this $10.99/mo. add-on. As with all the other channels, you’ll have access to both live TV and on-demand content.
The final premium network available via Hulu is STARZ. Outlander, Power and more are yours to watch for an additional $8.99/mo.
If you’re looking to add more news and lifestyle content to your live TV package, choose Hulu’s Entertainment Add-On for $7.99/mo. It’ll provide 11 extra channels, including Cooking Channel, Discovery Family and Lifetime Movies.
Add seven Spanish-language channels to your Hulu + Live TV plan with the Español Add-On. For a further $4.99/mo., you’ll get live TV and on-demand titles from seven networks. CNN en Español, Discovery en Español, ESPN and FOX Deportes are all on the list.
Enhanced Cloud DVR
Hulu gives every subscriber 50 hours of cloud DVR storage. But this may not be enough for people who don’t have time to watch every show or game live. Thankfully, you can up the limit to 200 hours for an extra $9.99/mo. Paying for Hulu’s Enhanced Cloud DVR also allows you to fast-forward through ads during recordings. You can keep recorded content for as long as you like. Once your DVR is full, it’ll free up space by deleting the oldest recordings first.
Every Hulu package allows two devices to stream content at once. But if three people want to watch three different things at the same time, you’ve got yourself a problem. Unlimited Screens is the answer. For an extra $9.99/mo., you can watch Hulu on an unlimited number of devices at home as well as three on-the-go devices.
What is the Hulu, Disney+, ESPN+ package?
If you want to mix live TV with even more family-friendly titles and sports coverage, you can get Disney Plus, ESPN+ and Hulu all in one go. Disney Plus is the ultimate way to catch every Disney movie and show along with your favorite titles from Marvel, Pixar and Star Wars. Plus, there is plenty of original content to enjoy — think Star Wars series, The Mandalorian and a High School Musical spin-off.
ESPN+, meanwhile, offers something for the sports-obsessed. You can catch thousands of live games and events as well as insightful documentaries and hard-hitting analyses. And, of course, Hulu has the usual cable TV line-up as well as must-watch originals and entire seasons of hit shows.
As for price, this triple bundle is a great value. Separately, all three services would cost you almost $18/mo. But, with the bundle deal, you can enjoy all of the features Disney Plus, ESPN+ and Hulu have to offer for just $12.99/mo. That’s a savings of around $5 each month.
Hulu’s ad-supported, on-demand plan is included in the price, but you can upgrade to the No Ads package if you can’t stand commercials. Of course, this will bump up the monthly price to $18.99/mo. The live TV package is also available for an adjusted monthly cost of $61.99/mo.
Which Hulu package is right for me?
If you’re part of a household that wants a complete cord cutting solution, look to Hulu’s Live TV package. It combines the best of cable with thousands of on-demand titles and decent DVR storage space. But if you find yourself steering away from live TV or wanting to stick to a tight budget, consider the on-demand only package. At just $5.99/mo., it may not offer the same range of services as Netflix, but it’s still quite the steal.
Can’t make up your mind? You can try both plans for free. The live TV free trial lasts for a week, and the on-demand one lasts for an entire month. Don’t forget to personalize your Hulu subscription plan either with No Ads, Enhanced Cloud DVR or Unlimited Screens.
