Can you watch sports on Hulu + Live TV?
Hulu + Live TV offers a decent selection of sports channels, which give you access to live programming from a wide variety of national and local sporting events. So you can use your Hulu + Live TV subscription to stream live games from pro and major college leagues alike.
In fact, Hulu is one of the few streaming services that lets you watch a majority of local MLB, NBA, NFL and NHL teams in action through regional FOX Sports and NBC Sports channels. Other than YouTube TV, none of the leading live TV streaming services currently carry the regional FOX Sports network.
Keep in mind that you only get regional and local networks relevant to your location. So, for example, someone living in Orlando will have access to FOX Sports Florida and FOX Sports Sun. But someone living in Los Angeles will get FOX Sports West and FOX Sports Prime Ticket. At the same time, national sports networks such as ESPN and TNT will be accessible everywhere.
How to watch sports on Hulu + Live TV
By default, the Hulu + Live TV plan comes with all the sports channels available under the service, with the only difference being in terms of local networks. And the availability of those local channels depends on where you live.
You also get the same lineup of sports channels with the Hulu (No Ads) + Live TV plan, although this option lets you watch on-demand content without commercial interruptions. Note that you won’t get any option to expand the channel offering since Hulu doesn’t have a sports add-on.
To start watching sports on Hulu + Live TV, you need to first subscribe to the Hulu + Live TV plan or the Hulu (No Ads) + Live TV option. In addition to a subscription, you also need a high-speed internet connection and a supported device. The service currently works with the following devices so you can start watching Hulu sports channels from any of them:
- Amazon Fire tablets
- Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick
- Android phones and tablets
- Apple iPhones and iPads
- Apple TV (4th generation or later)
- Echo Snow
- Hulu.com with a Mac or PC browser
- LG TV (select models)
- Nintendo Switch

What live sports are on Hulu + Live TV?
Notable sports games and series on Hulu + Live TV
For all the sports listed above, Hulu + Live TV lets you tune in to some of the major games and events that you don’t want to miss. This includes everything from the European Premier League (EPL) to the NFL Super Bowl. However, you might have to miss some games airing on channels that Hulu doesn’t carry, such as AT&T SportsNet and MSG.
So, for example, you can tune into the Bulls games airing on NBC Sports Chicago, but you won’t have access to the Houston Rockets’ games as they air on AT&T SportsNet Southwest. On the other hand, you can tune into every Hulu Live NFL game as those will air on CBS and FOX, which are both available with the service. This makes Hulu an excellent option for football fans in need of a comprehensive cable alternative.
- MLB regular season and playoffs on ESPN, FOX, FS1 and TBS
- NBA regular season and playoffs on ABC, ESPN and TNT
- WNBA regular season and playoffs
- 2020 Tour de France
- NCAA regular season and playoffs
- NFL regular season and playoffs

The bottom line
Overall, Hulu + Live TV is one of the best streaming services for sports fans as it comes with a comprehensive selection of local and national channels to watch major games and events. It’s also one of only two live TV streaming services that still offer regional FOX Sports networks, so you can use it to watch your favorite local teams in action.
That said, it doesn’t completely live up to the live sports viewing experience that cable offers since it doesn’t carry some channels. Plus, you won’t have the option to upgrade your plan with a live sports add-on.
So if you want a more comprehensive live sports experience, you might want to consider supplementing Hulu + Live TV with a standalone streaming service that can offer the other channels you need. For example, you could subscribe to standalone services like MLB TV or NBA League Pass to access out-of-market games that you can’t get with your Hulu subscription.
For now, make sure you sign up for the Hulu + Live TV free trial to get a feel for what it offers and see if it could meet all your live sports streaming needs.
