ESPN Plus is a sports streaming service that enables subscribers to watch live events and access on-demand content. The service offers live coverage of a wide range of sports and a library of ESPN documentaries, highlights and replays, as well as exclusive premium written content.
The ESPN Plus service is available through sports network ESPN’s mobile apps and website. However, watching ESPN content (as opposed to ESPN Plus offerings) requires a paid TV subscription to a cable, live streaming or satellite service. An ESPN Plus free trial is not currently offered, but the service is available as part of bundle deals with other video streaming services.
This article will provide a review of ESPN Plus, discuss the ESPN plus price, delve into ESPN plus deals and provide details about what users get with an ESPN plus subscription. For a complete review of what the service has to offer, check out our ESPN+ review.

ESPN Plus free trial
There is currently no ESPN Plus free trial available. Most live streaming services enable new subscribers to enjoy seven-day free trials, and most on-demand services provide 30-day or one-month trials that enable viewers to test out their content before they commit to a full subscription. However, this option is not available to sports fans accessing the sports content available on ESPN Plus.
An ESPN Plus trial period was previously available but was retired as the ESPN+ service grew. Instead, it provides monthly subscriptions of $4.99/mo. that can be canceled at any time, alongside an annual subscription for $49.99/yr.
ESPN Plus deals and discounts
Disney+, ESPN Plus and Hulu bundle
One of the best ways to save money on ESPN Plus is the bundle deal offered by media provider Walt Disney Company. The organization owns ESPN Plus as well as on-demand streaming services Disney+ and Hulu. It offers a deal for streamers to get all three services for $12.99/mo., which offers access to the sizeable Disney+ and Hulu on-demand libraries and live sports for the same price as subscribing to Netflix’s standard streaming plan.
Disney+ costs $5.99/mo., ESPN Plus costs $4.99/mo., and Hulu costs $6.99/mo., which means that purchasing the three separately would cost $17.97/mo. Therefore, by bundling the three services, viewers can save themselves $4.98/mo.
Purchase an annual subscription
Purchasing an annual subscription can give sports lovers a big discount on the ESPN Plus cost. Paying the monthly fee of $4.99/mo. for a full year would cost $59.88/yr., whereas the annual subscription available brings the ESPN Plus price down to just $49.99/yr. Therefore, by purchasing an annual subscription to ESPN Plus, sports fans can save themselves $9.81/yr.
ESPN Plus has a particularly strong offering for fans of boxing, martial arts and WWE. This includes the service having the exclusive rights to Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) pay-per-view events. UFC Fight Nights are included within a standard ESPN Plus subscription, but every pay-per-view event will typically cost an additional $65. However, an ESPN Plus annual subscription is available for just $25/yr. when signing up alongside a pay-per-view event, which represents a 50% savings of $24.99.
Like most streaming services, ESPN Plus often offers holiday time deals. This includes offering discounted deals, such as percentage savings and dollar-off offerings, around events like Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
ESPN Plus FAQs
What is included in ESPN Plus?
ESPN Plus is a streaming service that provides live coverage of a wide range of sports. This includes live games from Major League Baseball and the National Hockey League, as well as Major League Soccer, NASCAR and college basketball and football. However, a major absence from the ESPN Plus sports lineup is the lack of live National Basketball Association and National Football League games.
The service broadcasts live cricket, e-sports, Formula 1, golf, rugby, soccer, tennis and X-Games events. While it also enables subscribers to tune into Canadian Football League, Little League World Series and Women’s National Basketball Association games. ESPN Plus sometimes provides games that are not available through the ESPN cable channels. It also provides access to podcasts, news, radio shows and scores updates through a digital version of ESPN’s SportsCenter daily round-up show.
ESPN Plus subscribers get access to an on-demand library of documentaries, expert analysis, replays and highlights from recent games. The service also contains original series such as ESPN’s 30 for 30 films, the Academy Award-winning O.J. Simpson: Made In America mini-series and exclusive shows like Detail, NBA Rooks and The Boardroom with KD. In addition to that video content, ESPN Plus also provides access to exclusive written content and statistical analysis that was previously included in the ESPN Insider membership.
How do I watch ESPN Plus?
Unlike most other streaming services, ESPN Plus does not have its own dedicated app. Instead, it is accessed via a dedicated section on the ESPN.com website or the ESPN+ tab on the sports provider’s mobile and streaming apps.
ESPN Plus can be watched via any web browser for computers and laptops. It is also accessible via any device that supports the ESPN app. This includes Amazon Fire, Android and Apple phones and tablets, Amazon Fire TV and Roku streaming devices, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One gaming consoles and Smart TVs like Apple TV and Samsung.
Can I watch ESPN on ESPN Plus?
No. ESPN events are not available on ESPN Plus. The ESPN Plus service is not an online resource for watching events that are aired on ESPN or ESPN2. These live channels are only available through a live video streaming service that includes ESPN in its lineup.
How much does ESPN Plus cost and can I try it for free?
ESPN Plus costs $4.99/mo. or $49.99/yr. The service is also available as a bundle with on-demand streaming services Disney+ and Hulu for $12.99/mo. ESPN Plus is one of the few streaming services that does not offer a free trial for new customers to test out its content before they purchase a subscription.
What do ESPN Plus reviews say?
ESPN Plus reviews are typically positive, based on the service’s good value for money and the wide range of sports available. Reviews call out ESPN Plus’ lack of NBA and NFL live games but tend to recommend sports fans sign up for the service given the extensive coverage of boxing, college sports, martial arts, baseball, hockey and soccer. ESPN Plus reviews are also typically positive of the extra content available to subscribers, such as analysis, documentaries, highlights and replays.
