Long before its launch in November 2019, Disney Plus had already made great waves in the streaming service landscape. And to no one’s surprise, it has been a huge hit with loyal fans of Disney and the Star Wars franchise alike. But if you read our Disney Plus review, you’d have noticed that it didn’t score too well except when it comes to original content and user experience.
Indeed, the lineup of original Disney Plus shows and movies may be the most appealing aspect of the service. At the same time, it doesn’t offer too much variety since it focuses on content from only a handful of studios. So you still need a better idea of what movies are on Disney Plus and what shows you can watch with your subscription to figure out if it’s the right choice for you.
This post gives you a detailed look at some of the best shows and movies on Disney Plus, so you can see if it’s worth it to you.

What is Disney Plus?
Disney Plus is the official standalone streaming service from Disney. It serves as a home to the studio’s expansive library of back content as well as exclusive originals. Besides this, the Disney Plus content library also boasts of titles from Marvel Studios, National Geographic and Pixar. It even has the entire slate of movies from the Star Wars franchise, making it the perfect streaming destination for diehard fans.
All of these titles are available on-demand and ad-free, which means you get to watch them at any time without any commercial interruptions. One of the main highlights of the service is the exclusive access to the latest Disney Plus originals, which sets it apart from leading competitors. Plus, you get to stream these movies and shows on Disney Plus from up to four devices at a time, while other services typically set the limit to two or three.
So in spite of the lack of content variety, Disney Plus still holds its own as an excellent supplementary service to have with your existing subscriptions.
What’s on Disney Plus?
The Disney Plus list of movies and shows includes 900+ titles, with Disney continuing to add even more original content to the lineup. And you can access all of this for $6.99/mo. or $69.99/yr. If you get it with ESPN+ and Hulu (ad-supported), the bundle plan will set you back just $12.99/mo.
Unfortunately, Disney no longer offers a free trial for the service, so you might have a hard time finding out what shows are on Disney Plus and what movies are available. But with the low monthly subscription cost, you could consider signing up for the service and trying it for a month to see if it’s a good fit for your streaming needs.

Does Disney Plus have on-demand content?
The entire collection of Disney Plus movies and shows is available on-demand. Since the service doesn’t have any live programming, you can only find on-demand content on Disney Plus at the time of writing this post. And you get to access them all without any commercial interruptions with your basic $6.99/mo. subscription.
How do Disney Plus movies and shows compare to others?
The Disney Plus movie list and TV show collection are ideal for diehard fans of the franchise. But compared to its competitors, the service doesn’t offer that much variety as it doesn’t carry titles from many other studios. With this considered, it would make a great supplementary service to complement your other subscriptions.
Disney Plus gives you access to a wide selection of entertainment content in the form of Disney classics, Marvel epics, Pixar adventures and Star Wars sagas. So the service holds up well against the competition for entertainment programming. That being said, it doesn’t have as much variety as Netflix and Hulu, mainly because it focuses on content from a few select studios.
For families with kids
With hundreds of nostalgic cartoons and contemporary hits, the Disney Plus content lineup is a treasure trove of kid-friendly programming. The service lets you access many of the classic Disney Channel original shows such as Duck Tales, Kim Possible, Lizzie McGuire, Recess and The Suite Life of Zack & Cody. It’s also home to a host of movies from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Pixar Studios, making it a must-have for families with kids.
At $6.99/mo., the price of a Disney Plus subscription is in line with many leading streaming services such as Hulu and Netflix. While the basic Netflix plan will set you back by $8.99/mo., the ad-supported package for Hulu starts from $5.99/mo. So Disney Plus is well worth the price, especially considering that you get all of its content on-demand and ad-free.
Alternatively, the option to bundle Disney Plus with ESPN+ and Hulu for $12.99/mo. helps you save a few extra bucks while giving you a more expansive content collection.
