RCN frequently asked questions

Is RCN good internet?

RCN speeds are good for a variety of internet activities and multiple users. RCN speed tiers and pricing are comparable to other service providers. Additionally, RCN was voted #1 in the 2019 PCMag’s Annual Readers’ Choice Awards for Customer Service, Tech Support and Most Likely to Recommend.

RCN uses a fiber-optic network in select areas to offer their gigabit internet service. This network allows for download speeds up to 1,000 Mbps, but has limited availability in RCN service areas.

Xfinity offers faster max speeds than RCN in many locations, with download speeds up to 2,000 Mbps. RCN, however, is likely to offer cheaper internet plans, especially when you consider cost per Mbps.

RCN internet is available in select areas of Chicago, Boston, New York City, Philadelphia, the Lehigh Valley region and Washington, D.C.
