How we review internet in the Bronx
Our methodology
The Bronx internet takeaways
Bronx residents have access to fiber, cable, satellite and 5G internet, although fiber is widely available throughout the rest of New York City. Bronx residents can access fiber speeds as high as 8,000 Mbps through Optimum, 4,700 Mbps with AT&T and 2,300 Mbps with Verizon Fios. This is more than enough speed for even the heaviest of internet users.
Cable is also widely available in the borough through providers like Spectrum, and 5G is offered by both Verizon and T-Mobile. Starlink is the most widely available satellite provider, offering service to 100% of the Bronx with faster speeds and lower latency than its more traditional competitors Hughesnet and Viasat.
If you’re in the market for a cheap internet plan, the Bronx has many options to choose from. Optimum offers the best value since its cable and fiber service starts at $40.00/mo. Fiber offers superior connectivity. Verizon and T-Mobile also offer low starting prices, but you must pair your internet service with a mobile plan for the cheapest rate.
The Bronx internet provider breakdowns

Allconnect Rating
4.10 / 5
Optimum – Best for fastest speeds
Optimum offers both cable and fiber internet throughout most of New York City, but its fiber service offers uniquely fast multi-gig speeds. Its 8 gig plan is one of the fastest fiber plans out there and is only available in select locations — the Bronx being one of them. Most people don’t need speeds that fast, so Optimum’s lower-tier gig plans from 1 to 5 gigs, albeit still very fast, are also available in the Bronx.
Why the Bronx loves Optimum
- Free installation is included in select plans
- As a locally based company, it understands the needs of New York City residents
Optimum Customer Reviews:

Allconnect Rating
3.75 / 5
Spectrum – Best for equipment
Spectrum offers cable internet to most of New York City. In the Bronx, it provides services with download speeds up to 1,000 Mbps.
Why the Bronx loves Spectrum
- The modem is included in all the plans with no extra cost
- No data cap means you can stream and surf worry-free
Spectrum Customer Reviews:

Allconnect Rating
4.54 / 5
Verizon – Best for bundle savings
Verizon offers fiber and 5G internet service to the Bronx and offers a discount on both if you bundle with a Verizon mobile plan. Verizon also consistently offers new customer deals and promotions that can include free equipment, tech, subscriptions and more.
Why the Bronx loves Verizon
- Lock in your price for up to two years and never worry about an unexpected price increase
- A fully fiber optic network (available in select areas) can deliver blazing-fast speeds

The Bronx internet customer reviews
AT&T service is the best so far, better than what I had in the past.
5/5
I am happy with Starry most of the time. Price is good for the 200 speed I have, speed is good. Reliability not to happy with, I have a lot of interruptions with connection issues, sometimes daily. Twice I had no internet for 24 hrs. A lot of lagging, freezing, on my TV. Phone and computer I lose internet off and on all day. Customer service is always helpful I have no complaints with them. I look at other options but out of my budget, I will not pay $50 for internet.
4/5
Great internet service but too many hidden fees. Be aware of paying others bill as they get information mixed up.

What speed do you need?
The internet speed you need depends on the number of devices connected to your network and the types of internet activities you and your household engage in.
The Bronx is unique due to its widespread fiber availability. Multi-gig speeds are prevalent in the borough, and most households don’t need as much speed as 5,000 or 8,000 Mbps. Nevertheless, heavy internet users, small business owners or those who simply want the fastest speeds possible may benefit from these fast speeds.
Those with smaller households of lighter internet users will do just fine with slower and cheaper plans. One or two users should opt for anywhere between 100 and 300 Mbps, while midsized homes can explore plans 400 Mbps and higher.
