  • Plans range from $15 to $60/mo.
  • 36 different phones available
  • All plans include unlimited talk and text
  • Plans can accommodate one to five lines

In addition to T-Mobile’s postpaid phone plans, the carrier also offers prepaid phones and plans with lower starting costs. These prepaid plans come at competitive rates — T-Mobile has one of the lowest cost-per-gig data rates of all prepaid providers. Plans offer many of the same features as the company’s postpaid plans, including unlimited talk and text, unlimited data (for some plans) and mobile hotspot use.

T-Mobile Prepaid plans and pricing

T-Mobile Prepaid has three primary plans available — Simply Prepaid, Simply Prepaid Unlimited and Simply Prepaid Unlimited Plus. These plans each allow up to five lines with unlimited domestic talk and text. One offers 10GB data, while the other two are unlimited data plans. The company also offers its T-Mobile Connect plans. Customers of these plans can choose from either 2GB or 5GB of monthly data with unlimited domestic talk and text.

Simply Prepaid Unlimited Plus

  • $60/mo. for one line
  • Unlimited domestic talk and text
  • Unlimited 4G LTE data
  • Up to 10GB 4G LTE mobile hotspot, then unlimited at 3G speeds

The Simply Prepaid Unlimited Plus plan offers unlimited talk, text and 4G LTE data for 1-5 lines. In addition to the unlimited data use on their handsets, customers have up to 10GB of 4G LTE data for mobile hotspot use each month. After that, customers have unlimited 3G mobile hotspot use.

Simply Prepaid Unlimited

  • $50/mo. for one line
  • Unlimited domestic talk and text
  • Unlimited 4G LTE data
  • Unlimited mobile hotspot at 3G speeds

Like the Simply Prepaid Unlimited Plus plan, the Simply Prepaid Unlimited option offers unlimited talk, text and 4G LTE data for 1-5 lines. Additionally, customers have unlimited hotspot use at 3G speeds.

Simply Prepaid

  • $40/mo. for one line
  • Unlimited domestic talk and text
  • 10GB 4G LTE data
  • Mobile hotspot shared with 10GB handset data

Like the Simply Prepaid Unlimited and Unlimited Plus plans, the basic Simply Prepaid plan offers unlimited talk and text for 1-5 lines. This plan offers 10GB of 4G LTE data. Mobile hotspot use is available on this plan, but only by sharing the 10GB 4G LTE handset data.

T-Mobile Connect

  • $15 or $25
  • Unlimited domestic talk and text
  • 2GB or 5GB high-speed data

T-Mobile Connect offers the most basic prepaid options. For a low price, customers can get unlimited talk and text and limited data use for $25 or less. Unlike other T-Mobile Prepaid plans, T-Mobile Connect plans don’t offer mobile hotspot use and aren’t available for more than one line. T-Mobile Prepaid rewards long-term customers on these plans. You’ll earn an extra 500MB per year over your first five years.

Added features

In addition to the talk, text and data service that come with each T-Mobile Prepaid plan, customers also have access to some extra features. Some of those features come included in their plans, while others cost extra. Included for Simply Prepaid customers are spam-blocking protection, caller ID, Wi-Fi calling, Music Unlimited and Data Maximizer. Additionally, they can pay an extra $5/mo. for talk, text and data in Mexico and Canada and an extra $15/mo. for stateside international calling.

T-Mobile Prepaid phones

T-Mobile Prepaid offers 36 phone options. Customers can expect to find all of the most popular phones on the market, including the latest iPhone and Samsung Galaxy models. Prices for T-Mobile Prepaid phones line up with what you’ll pay elsewhere for the same phones. If you want discounts, you’ll have to go with a T-Mobile phone on a postpaid plan. These are some of the best T-Mobile Prepaid phones currently available.

Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max: $1,099.99

The Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max is currently the top featured phone through T-Mobile Prepaid. At $1,099.99 or $36.67/mo., the phone comes in at the same price you’ll get it for through T-Mobile’s postpaid plans and Apple.

Apple iPhone 12: $829.99

For the basic Apple iPhone 12, T-Mobile Prepaid customers will pay $829.99 or $27.67/mo. This price is slightly more expensive than you can expect to pay through Verizon and Apple.

Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G: $699.99

T-Mobile Prepaid offers the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G for $699.99 or $29.17/mo. This is the same price you can expect to pay through Verizon and Samsung.

Apple iPhone 12 Pro: $999.99

T-Mobile Prepaid offers the Apple iPhone 12 Pro for $999.99 or $33.34/mo. This is the same price you can expect to pay through Verizon and Apple.

Apple iPhone 12 mini: $729.99

T-Mobile Prepaid offers the Apple iPhone 12 mini for $729.99 or $30.42/mo. This price is slightly more expensive than you can expect to pay through both Verizon and Apple.

LG Wing 5G: $999.99

T-Mobile Prepaid offers the LG WING 5G for $999.99 or $41.67/mo. This is the same price you can expect to pay through Verizon and LG.

How does T-Mobile Prepaid compare?

In addition to the T-Mobile Prepaid plans, the company also offers a handful of postpaid plans. While there are many similarities between the different options, some key differences stand out.

First, T-Mobile’s postpaid plans can accommodate up to eight lines, while the prepaid plans only allow up to five lines. All three plans come with unlimited talk, text and 4G LTE data, though the cheapest of the three may have lower data speeds during peak data hours. All three plans also come with unlimited mobile hotspot use.

For plans with just one line, the postpaid plans are more expensive than the prepaid lines. T-Mobile’s Simply Prepaid plans cost $40, $50 and $60/mo. for one line, while the postpaid plans cost $60, $70 and $85 for one line.

When you compare T-Mobile Prepaid to other prepaid plans from other providers, T-Mobile is one of the most competitive. It’s price-per-gig for the data on its prepaid plans is some of the most affordable in the market.

Should you switch to T-Mobile Prepaid?

T-Mobile Prepaid offers an impressive line-up of options for its prepaid plans and devices. Customers are likely to find a plan and phone that fit their budget and needs. While it’s certainly worth comparing the company to some of the other prepaid plans on the market, T-Mobile Prepaid has some of the most affordable per-gig data rates available.
