- Only available with the No Ads plan ($11.99/mo.)
- Limited to iOS right now, but Android support is coming “soon”
- Download up to 25 titles across five different devices at a time
- Content deletes after 30 days, or two days after playback starts
Well, at least some subscribers. The feature is only available with the $11.99/mo. No Ads plan, so subscribers to the $5.99/mo. ad-supported plan will be left out.
That’s not the only caveat. Right now, the feature is only available on Hulu’s iOS apps for Apple devices. (To access it, you’ll need to update the app to the latest version.) For everyone else, Hulu promises that “downloads will be coming to Android users soon.”
There are also some relatively tight restrictions on keeping your content downloaded. From Hulu:
“Viewers can download up to 25 titles across five different devices and will have up to 30 days to watch their downloaded content. For watched content, the download will expire two days after starting playback. After downloaded content expires, viewers can renew an expired download when online, if that content is still available on Hulu.”
How to download shows on Hulu
Downloading shows and movies on Hulu’s iOS app looks to be pretty simple. Just click the “Downloads” tab at the bottom of the screen to see what you’ve already downloaded. From there, you’ll find a button that says “See What’s Downloadable” if you want to browse titles that can be viewed offline.
If you’re wondering about a specific show or movie, you’ll see a download icon on its details page if it can be downloaded.
What’s available to download?
Hulu hasn’t given an exact answer about what will be available for offline viewing, only saying that “thousands of shows and movies” can be downloaded, including Family Guy, Desperate Housewives, This is Us, How I Met Your Mother and ER, plus original series like The Handmaid’s Tale, Shrill and The Act.
Hulu took a step in the right direction today, but there’s still plenty of unknowns. Does this feature apply to Hulu + Live TV? When will Android users be able to download?
