Internet can be expensive, and cost is often a deciding factor for many customers when it comes to choosing an internet plan. Spectrum’s everyday internet rates start at $50/mo., a competitive price among other providers, but this rate increases by as much as $25/mo. in the second year of service.

Since Affordable Connectivity Program funding ran out in 2024, many customers are left with limited options for affordable internet. The Spectrum internet discount program, Spectrum Internet Assist, is a solution for those looking for cheap internet options.

What is the Spectrum Internet Assist program?

The Spectrum Internet Assist program is an affordable internet service geared toward low-income households. It provides internet speeds of up to 50 Mbps for $24.99/mo.

Spectrum Internet Assist includes a free modem and Security Suite with no data caps or contracts. However, you must pay an extra $5/mo. for Wi-Fi capabilities.

Spectrum offers eligible New York residents an even cheaper version of the program for $15/mo.

Who can qualify for the Spectrum Internet Assist program?

To qualify for Spectrum Internet Assist, a member of your household must be participating in one of the following assistance programs:

  • National School Lunch Program (NSLP)
  • Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) of the NSLP
  • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)

How to apply for Spectrum Internet Assist

If you qualify for Spectrum Internet Assist, gather the documentation reflecting your participation in one of the above programs. Then, fill out Spectrum’s online application for the Internet Assist program.

Other affordable Spectrum internet options

Spectrum also offers a 100 Mbps plan for $29.99/mo. This plan is available based on eligibility and location. If you qualified for the Affordable Connectivity Program that was discontinued earlier this year, then you are eligible for this plan.

If Spectrum isn’t available near you, consider other cheap internet plans or low-income internet programs from other internet providers:
