PlayStation Vue launched in 2015 as a new streaming service catered to potential cable cutters who owned PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 consoles. These devices were ideal for video streaming as both are equipped to display 1080p resolution, and some versions of the PS4 are even capable of 4K and HDR display.

Don’t have a PlayStation 3 or 4 but still interested in cutting the cord? No problem. PlayStation Vue can be viewed on up to 5 devices at once with Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Android TV, web browsers and mobile devices. PlayStation recommends an internet connection with speeds of 10 Mbps or higher for service.

What channels are available with PlayStation Vue?

PlayStation Vue initially launched as an “a la carte” channel streaming service where users could subscribe to individual channels or pay to stream select movies or shows. The service now only offers premium channels as standalone options. Customers choose from 4 main channel packs with up to 100+ channels to view regular cable TV channels.

PlayStation Vue channel list includes:

  • Local channels including sports networks
  • CBS Sports Network
  • Disney
  • ESPN
  • Fox News
  • HBO
  • NFL Network
    Sundance TV
  • AMC

PlayStation Vue is among the top streaming services for sports

The PlayStation Vue channel list gives the service an edge over other streaming services such as Netflix or Hulu, especially when it comes to live sports channels. PlayStation Vue is one of the best streaming services for live sports with live local channels, regional sports networks, MLB Network, NBA Network, NFL Network and more available.

Subscribers can also add the PlayStation Vue Sports Pack, with additional channels including NFL Red Zone, NBC Sports, ESPN Classic and college sports networks for select conferences.

In the height of the NBA season, PlayStation Vue offers ESPN, TNT and NBA TV to stream the NBA live. Plus, a PlayStation device works great for streaming NBA games via the NBA LEAGUE PASS.

How much is PlayStation Vue?

As of January 2019, monthly subscriptions for Playstation Vue range from $44.99 to $79.99, which may be a bit pricey for cable cutters as these prices are comparable to many traditional TV packages. PlayStation Vue does offer a free trial for 5 days, so you can try life as a cord cutter for a bit before fully committing to it.

If you’re interested in cutting the cord, compare streaming services like PlayStation Vue, DIRECTV NOW, Hulu and others to make sure you get the entertainment you want. While considering cutting cable, you may want to compare your current service with other TV providers in your area, including satellite TV providers to see if you can get a better deal with another provider.
