How to Pack a Moving Truck Like a Pro

Packing up a moving truck can be the most arduous game of Tetris you will ever play in your life. But unlike a video game, losing has real world consequences. Nobody wants to leave their precious belongings on the curb.

How you pack a moving truck is what keeps your possessions unscathed during travel between your old and new homes. With that in mind, what is the best system to get everything in a truck and to a destination safely?

First, heaviest appliances, such as washing machines and refrigerators, should sit flush against the back of the cab, the part of the truck the driver sits in. Next, line the sides of the cargo area with long, cumbersome furniture like sofas, desks, credenzas and so on. Be sure to strap in or tie down those larger objects. Finally, fill in the remaining space with the your boxed belongings, paying careful attention to what might shift in transit.
