T-Mobile now has three 5G Home Internet plans, as well as a Backup Internet option.

T-Mobile announced new internet plans for residential and small business customers. The plans include new perks, like free streaming service subscriptions, equipment and software.

While the “Un-carrier” launched new plans, customers can rest assured that the same benefits that defined T-Mobile’s original 5G Home Internet service will remain: no equipment fees, no contracts, unlimited data and no price hikes.

T-Mobile’s new 5G Home Internet plans

T-Mobile 5G Home Internet plans are priced from $50.00 to $70.00/mo. on their own. If you bundle with a T-Mobile cellular plan, you can get home internet at a $15 discount and pay between $35.00 and $55.00/mo., depending on the plan. Plan speeds range from 87 Mbps to 415 Mbps.

Each plan includes a free gateway device, but the highest-tier plan includes subscriptions to Hulu (With Ads) and Paramount+ Essential.

Rely Home Internet$35.00/mo.87 – 318 Mbps14 – 56 Mbps
Amplified Home Internet$45.00/mo.133 – 415 Mbps12 – 55 Mbps
All-In Home Internet$55.00/mo.133 – 415 Mbps12 – 55 Mbps

T-Mobile Home Internet Backup

T-Mobile also has a backup internet option for customers in case of an internet outage. Home Internet Backup from T-Mobile comes with a gateway and 130 GB of data, enough for seven days of “typical use” as a backup internet option.

T-Mobile Home Internet Backup is $25.00/mo., or $20.00/mo. with AutoPay. Typical download speeds for all plans are between 87 and 415 Mbps.

AT&T also offers an internet backup option, available as a feature to existing customers at no extra cost.

T-Mobile availability

T-Mobile is one of the three “big three” cellular carriers: AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile. Each offers its own 5G internet service, though Verizon and T-Mobile are the most established since AT&T’s 5G service is a recent development.

Of the big three mobile carriers, T-Mobile has one of the largest 5G networks, available to around 60% of the U.S., compared to Verizon’s 13% and AT&T’s 30%. If your main concern is 5G coverage and availability, then T-Mobile is the best choice.

What is 5G home internet?

5G home internet is a type of internet technology that provides internet access to customers using existing cellular networks. 5G doesn’t require wiring to deliver internet, unlike cable and fiber. Instead, it uses a fixed 5G receiver that connects to your carrier’s nearest cell tower, which converts the signal into Wi-Fi in your home.

5G home internet is known for its simplistic pricing. Providers often offer plans at a flat rate with no price hikes, data caps or hidden fees. Customers can also usually bundle their 5G home internet plan with a mobile plan from the same provider to save some money.

5G has been expanding rapidly in recent years as a solution to rural internet accessibility barriers. These areas generally only have access to satellite internet, if any internet at all, but 5G has become an alternative that provides decent speeds at a much lower cost.
