Latest changes in Charter-Spectrum services

Service rate increases

This month Spectrum increased a variety of internet and cable charges. For instance, Spectrum’s broadcast TV charge increased from $8.85 to $9.95, a Spectrum receiver increased in price from $6.99 to $7.50 and the Latino View channel pack monthly rate increased from $7.99 to $8.99. Monthly internet plan rates increased by $5. Not all customers are upset by rising rates due to fast starting speeds and consistent service quality.

Spectrum could be booted from the state of New York

The state of New York has expressed continued disappointment in Charter-Spectrum. State officials voted to kick out Charter-Spectrum from New York based on failure to bring high-speed internet to under-served, less-populated areas of the state. State officials continue to hash out the details of Charter-Spectrum’s exit and have granted an extension. However, the cable and internet provider must come up with a plan to find a replacement provider if they’re forced to leave.

Spectrum Gig continues to expand

Spectrum recently launched gigabit speed internet as well as Spectrum Mobile in the Grand Valley area of Colorado. Spectrum also started offering gig speeds in the Tri-Cities area of Tennessee as well as Reno, Nevada, and a number of other cities this fall.

What the latest news & deals mean for Spectrum customers

Spectrum gig-speed expansion

If Spectrum offers internet in your area but hasn’t yet brought gig-speed internet to your region, it may still be coming. Since Charter-Spectrum continues to invest in its high-speed internet network, you may see speeds up to 940 Mbps offered near you in 2019.

Current and future Spectrum deals

Although Spectrum offers standalone and Double Play plans, the most popular offer is the Triple Play Select bundle which includes internet, TV and home phone. You’ll pay less for each service in a bundle than you would separately. Bundling your services with Spectrum is the best way to get the most for your money.

Spectrum’s contract buyout offer

An offer like this a great opportunity for someone that’s stuck in a contract with a provider that’s not living up to the hype. It’s also a sign that there may be a trend towards no-contract plans as larger providers like Spectrum threaten to buy out those contracts and offer better service without one. The ability to get service without strings attached is also a big benefit with streaming services, which have started to eclipse traditional TV service in recent years.
