Once the last moving box hits the floor in your new home, take a breather and ask yourself one simple question: How much time can you devote to unpacking boxes over the next couple weeks? Would you prefer to unpack a little every day? Or would you rather unpack in day-long chunks?
For those people who prefer unpacking boxes in short spurts, set a daily limit. Let’s say no more than three or four boxes. That gives you ample time to clean and sort your belongings as you unbox them. Avoid burning out. Remember, you’ve got work in the morning.
If you’re more the adventurous type and want to unpack everything in a weekend or two, block off this time on the schedule. Plan against interruptions, such as errands or chores. Send your young children to visit friends or relatives. Order a pizza so you don’t waste time cooking.
