4 Top Home Automation Technologies You Can’t Live Without in 2017

Home automation technology has become incredibly advanced in recent years that it is now being enjoyed by families throughout the world. And, when used correctly, these amazing devices will save you quite a bit of time, energy, and money. Here’s a look at four home automation technologies you’ll definitely want to consider installing in your home in the coming year.

Digital Assistants

Anyone who has followed the home automation industry over the last few years has no doubt seen just how popular home assistant devices have become. Not only can you play music and carry out Google searches with nothing more than voice commands, but you can also add items to your schedule or even check on the local traffic. As an added bonus, these devices can be used to control your programmable light bulbs, smart thermostats, and WiFi outlets.

Programmable Lights

“Programmable lights connect directly to your wireless network, and they can be controlled by practically any device imaginable.”

Many families have the made the transition from old incandescent bulbs to newer CFL bulbs, but lighting technology has recently gone one step further. Programmable lights connect directly to your wireless network, and they can be controlled by practically any device imaginable. For example, those folks who have very specific sleep schedules can use a mobile app to slowly brighten the bedrooms at specific times and gently wake up each resident in your home.

Smart Thermostats

One of the most cost-efficient ways to automate your home is to replace your old thermostat with a smart thermostat. Unlike traditional programmable thermostats, these newer devices can be controlled with a personalized mobile app from anywhere in the world. Instead of leaving your A/C on all day or struggling with sweltering temperatures when you first get home, you can simply turn the HVAC system on right before you pull into the driveway. Just make sure that you’re working with a quality HVAC contractor company that’s experienced with such high-tech thermostats. You don’t want to have to worry about running into technical difficulties every time you change the temperature in your house.

WiFi Switches

In many newer homes, WiFi electrical outlets have become a standard upgrade. Just as with all of the other home automation devices, these switches are controlled through your smartphone, tablet, or laptop. And this gives you the power to not only turn all of your appliances on and off whenever you like, but you can also track how much energy they are using at specific times.

Overall, even though the concept of a “smart home” is still evolving, much of the technology is already at our fingertips. And not only have these devices simplified our lives, but they’re also great investments for those who want to cut back on energy consumption, sleep better, or simply make their daily routines a little bit easier.

  1. I agree that smart thermostats are something you can’t live without. Almost everyone is going to have one in their home in the next few years. Thanks for sharing!

  2. wifi sounds like an add-on — much like night light or timers. Where can we get them? Even bluetooth would work (barely ,,,)
