Emerging as the local phone services provider created from the merger of Sprint PCS and Nextel, Embarq was the largest independent local phone provider in the country. Providing service in 19 states, Embarq offered local and long distance telephone services and high speed Internet access powered by service ranked highest in customer satisfaction among large enterprise businesses, according to J.D. Power and Associates.
Depending on your location, Embarq customers could access the Internet using either high speed DSL or fiber optic connections.
